Soft Fork
A soft fork is a type of blockchain upgrade or protocol change that is backward-compatible with previous versions of the software. It introduces new rules or features but does not require all network participants to update their software immediately. Soft forks typically involve tightening or modifying existing rules without fundamentally altering the consensus mechanism. Nodes that have not upgraded can still participate in the network, but they may not be able to take advantage of the new features or rules introduced by the soft fork.
